Although I have gained more insight into how I can help advocate for improving the issue and the many international and local organizations working towards reducing poverty across the world, I realized that this is one issue that I can not put at the forefront of my professional development and the consequences are as followed:
-This issues is LARGER than me
- There are millions of children and families suffering from the effects of poverty but I can only help those in my community
-I am unable to dedicate the time and energy into advocating for this issues due to juggling a full time job, working on school, and accommodating to a new career/ position.

Moving forward, I would really like to continue my exploration of the ZERO TO THREE website as well as the Bonnie's Café segments posted on the World Forum Foundation website. I hope to subscribe to newsletters and updates from these organizations in order to stay up-to date and well informed on the issues and trends throughout the early childhood field.

A Visual Interpretation

Amy,
ReplyDeleteYou know I love your picture representations, they always fit perfectly in to what we are learning. Poverty affected me the most as well. It is truly heart-wrenching but also has helped rekindle my passion for why I do what I do. I also loved that you are honest at this point in your life and knowing there is so much embedded in poverty. I feel that we should absolutely start with those nearest to us within the community. You can make a great difference in the lives of those you work with every day. The first step is always becoming aware. I applaud you and thank you for your continued insights. I look forward to learning from you in the future.
