Meet Princess Lolli!
This was my character for our Month of the Military Child Candyland Event!
Now here's me...
at one of the most exciting moments of my life.
I never would have thought I'd continue my education after completing my AS in General Business. It was a struggle completing that degree, I just didn't think that I'd find anything I'd be passionate about... until I started at the Navy Child & Youth Programs. A spark was ignited in my Toddler room and my experiences fueled the fire to continue my education in a new direction: Early Childhood Education. Once I received my AA in ECE/ Child Development I realized my true passion and I went on to receive my BS in Early Childhood Development in Administration and Leadership. And here I am now... working towards my Masters in Teaching Adults in the Early Childhood Field; another thing I didn't think I'd ever do.
The Way I Feel and Other Moods That Make My Day By Jamie Lee Curtis
This is one of my favorite books to read to my toddlers and preschool! The illustrations throughout the entire book are vibrant and colorful and full of details that kept the children pretty attentive (I'd also like to think my animated way of reading it to them kept their attention as well!). The book is about a little girl and the many moods and feelings she experiences in different situations and how she deals with it. From her first math test and jazz recital to a finding out she's gonna be a big sister and being jealous that her friends made a play date without her; she experiences sooooo many different feelings throughout the book and they are all (mostly all) relatable.
These are pictures one of our older youth drew before he aged out of our SAC Program. On top is a map of Aquidneck Island and on bottom is a goodbye present he made for me.
He is a very talented young man and he has such a bright future ahead of him. It was sad to see him go, but we all know he's going to excel at everything he puts his mind to. We submitted the map into the Washington County Fair's 4H Exhibit; he won a 1st place ribbon along with a cash prize!
There are many things about this field that I love and that I'm passionate about. These are just a few of them. :)

Hi, Great blog! Loved looking at the pictures that you posted. The art work posted is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your blog posting. Thanks for sharing your favorite book. I'll have to check into that book as it sounds like an interesting story to read to the kids on the different moods they can have and how they can handle them. Obtaining your degree is a very special moment and we all should feel just as proud as you. There's probably plenty of us that never thought we'd do something that we have accomplished. Congrats
Amy,
ReplyDeleteI loved your photos. I like the great art work from the youth what awesome way of displaying it.
Awesome!! You seem to be a "sweet" teacher. The book about feelings is important. If us as adults knew all about emotions, why we feel the way we do and how to communicate them we would be well off. It is important that we teach children this concept. It is very important.
ReplyDeleteAmy, I absolutely love working for CYP! It seems like you're the life of the party in your center and I'm sure the children, teachers and parents enjoy and appreciate your enthusiasm!
ReplyDeleteHey Amy!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed learning more about you from this weeks blog post. I think it's awesome that your passion was ignited through this toddler program. It is so important to work with what we love to do! The book you chose is also one of my favorites! I love reading this book to my toddler class, it's such a creative and fun book!
