Words of Inspiration and Motivation

One of the major contributors I chose for this weeks assignment was Susan Bredekamp, PhD. and a quote that I resonate with I found on another blog: "Children benefit most from teachers who have the skills, knowledge, and judgment to make good decisions and are given the opportunity to use them."
Raymond Hernandez talked about his passions stemming from an intrinsic motivation he has for the work that he’s done and the services he provides for children. He also mentioned how he feels he’s committed to the services he wants to provided children because of the experiences he had growing up and all the opportunities he’s had given to him. He feels that it’s time for him to do the same for the children and families he serves. He also mentioned why he became an administrator; to have a larger impact on the program in order to shape it to best benefit the children and families. Both of these quotes resonates with me.

I hold great pride in the services I provide to children and youth however, I feel that the services I provide to early childhood professionals hold more intrinsic motivation for me. They are continuously working with, and providing care for, the children and youth in the program. Through mentoring and guiding them in their professional development and implementation of best practices, I am ensuring the services provided to children and youth meet the standards of a high quality program. Additionally, I too have had many opportunities and resources offered to me, throughout my time in the field, that I would like to provide and offer to early childhood professionals. Hernandez’s  and Berdekamp's words has not only inspired me, but has encouraged me to continue to improve my mentoring and leadership skills in order to better provide for both the children and youth in my care as well as the early childhood professionals I serve.

  1. Hi Amy,
Your quote from Susasn Bredekamp is awesome. To be a great teacher you have to be knowledgeable and willing to continuously learn in order to pass on what you've learned to your students. Being given the opportunity to do so is a must. Many of my family and friends who are teachers often feel frustrated at times because they lack the freedom to teach according to their student's needs but instead have to teach within the common core curriculum.

  2. Susan Bredekamp, PhD. quote "Children benefit most from teachers who have the skills, knowledge, and judgment to make good decisions and are given the opportunity to use them." - This quote is so profound because it is based on the foundation that teachers need to ensure the children ready for learning to take place. Without knowledge, skills, and mind set to help the children, teachers can't prepare for the children and meet them where they are.
